The SPCA, along with the Dogs Trust are running a neutering campaign toaddress the problem on the island. The SPCA, Malta, also run a homing centre for the stray and abandoned catsand dogs in Floriana. At the homing centre, stray and abandoned cats and dogs are brought intothe SPCA. They are assessed and nursed back to health before they are re-homed into loving homes in Malta.

The SPCA will shortly start building a brand new homing centre in Ta’Qali. There will be a large homing centre, a state of the art clinic, quarantinekennels for cats and dogs, boarding kennels, exercise areas, educationalfacilities for schools and visiting children and adults, a playground, shops andpicnic area.

Over the course of one month, four crafters dedicated their time to transforming and updoing various items selected from the SPCA Happy Paws charity shop in Sliema with the intention of donating all proceeds from the sales to the same charity. Denise Scicluna, Carla Said, Sarah Micallef (The Secret Rose) and Maria Muscat (Babettopolis) set about creating five desirable items each on an animal theme to be presented on a separate SPCA stall where Patches attendees may stop a while to browse, buy as well as learn more about the organisation. This project has been well documented on their respective facebook pages, blogs and tumblr so for more information please visit:
